Origins of the Running Club
The club was formed in 1982 as a works club - Plessey Christchurch Runners and Joggers and is now an open club.
It is organisationally a subsection of the East Christchurch Sports and Social Club (ECSSC), which has a range of facilities including changing rooms and showers!
What we do?
We are a small friendly bunch of runners who aim to have fun and keep fit through running with others.
Why not just come along and introduce yourself at one of our training events.
We currently have around 60 members of very varied speeds.
Everyone is welcome, no matter what your standard, and all of the club events are designed to give all an equal chance to excel.
Make it known what you want out of your involvement and you will quickly find yourself in with a group who will encourage and help you achieve your goals.
We also currently organise two well supported UKA registered events: The Christmas 10k, which has raised over £70,000 for good causes since its' inception in 1991 and the Hoburne 5, which from humble beginnings raised £2,900 for good causes last year.
Year subscription to our running club is a paltry £5,
although you must also be a member of ECSSC (Individual £18, Family £24, OAP £9)
Contact us if you require further information mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to join the running club, please come along to one of our runs and if you are happy to join, fill in the membership form and submit it with the appropriate subscription to the Membership Secretary. This allows you to participate in events on behalf of the club, or use the club's changing facilities.
If you are interested in joining in, but do not want to run, we are always on the lookout for people to do the timekeeping for our events.
